In an appearance on the Today show this morning, Dina Lohan admits that she was deliberately cagey the last time she appeared (when host Matt Lauer used his best ninja tactics against her). “As a mother it wasn’t for me to tell the world about her problem,” she told Lauer, conceding openly now that her daughter is, in fact, an addict. “You protect as a parent.” Meanwhile, Lindsay herself is apparently psyched about staying in rehab through Christmas and New Year’s (she’s scheduled for release on January 3). “Lindsay wants to stay,” Dina said. “She’s learning the trigger points and why she turns to … drugs or addiction. It’s a lifelong journey.” But then, afterward, she’s coming to New York, right? You can’t promise tabloid gold like that and then not follow through on it …
