A Delta passenger jet heading out of JFK Airport for Moscow this evening blew an engine upon takeoff, causing a reported wing fire, and had to return to the airport for an emergency landing. The jet apparently could have flown to Russia with just one engine, but the pilot decided not to chance it, and he landed safely at JFK around 6 p.m. So who’s to blame? “The pilot reported a ‘possible bird strike’ could have caused the engine on the left wing to blow.” Aaaaaand they’re back.
