Sixty-two-year-old North Dakota Democratic senator Kent Conrad, who has served in the Senate since 1986, won’t run for reelection in 2012, he announced today. The Democrats already had more endangered Senate seats to defend in 2012 than the GOP, and Conrad’s abdication of a safe seat in a conservative state should make their effort to retain control of their slim Senate majority significantly more difficult.
