Though one of the country’s most popular senators, the three-term Maine moderate she voted with the GOP only 69 percent of the time during the 111th Congress, less frequently than every Republican senator except for fellow Maine senator Susan Collins would have a hard time making it through a Republican primary in 2012 against a tea party challenger.
