Bradley Manning has been moved out of solitary confinement and is now able to move freely around other military prisoners. Manning is currently being held at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, after being moved from Quantico Marine base in Virginia earlier this month. The solitary confinement that Manning had previously been held in had been considered cruel and unusual punishment by human-rights groups. The move implies that Manning is no longer considered a threat to himself; he had been kept on a “prevention of injury” order which required that he remain segregated from other inmates. From here on out, Manning will be kept with around ten or so other inmates awaiting trial, but will have his own cell. We know some singers who are probably pretty happy about that.
