Former United Nations volunteer Marc Payen has been convicted of grand larceny and other charges after running an immigration scam that made him some $12,000. The 29-year-old would claim to be a lawyer or immigration-service staffer and invite his victims to meet him in the U.N. lobby. He did nothing to help his six victims get legal residency and was already on probation for another immigration scheme. [WSJ]
