Staff Shake-ups at the Newsweek Daily Beast Company

As Adweek reports that Newsweek/Daily Beast managing editor Brekke Fletcher has decamped for The Wall Street Journal’s WSJ. magazine, Tina Brown has told staffers this morning about a series of changes in the hybrid company’s hierarchy. Tom Weber, who came from the Journal, will replace Fletcher as managing editor. Kara Cutruzzula will be promoted to editor of Newsweek’s “Omnivore” section; its previous editor, David Jefferson, will take on more feature editing. Next week’s issue, after three issues were published last week (royal wedding, Osama bin Laden, and the regular issue), will have 32 ad pages — the most Newsweek has seen in a single issue in over a year.
