On Morning Joe today, New York’s John Heilemann discussed a new poll showing that Americans trust President Obama less than Republicans in Congress to handle problems with the economy. If Obama’s numbers continue to dip, Heilemann suggests Democrats will try to position the 2012 race as less of a referendum on Obama’s failure to reverse a recession. How? By telling the voters straight up: “You are going to have to choose between Barack Obama and one of these clowns.” Clowns!
And last night on Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell, Heilemann confirms that Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin aren’t patching up their frenemy status anytime soon, as Bachmann is prepped to announce her intention to run for president anydaynow, firing a sort of warning shot to Palin’s peeps. We imagine it’s something like, “This town ain’t big enough for the both of us.” Alas, not so.
