NBC will bring its signature schmaltz to the Olympic games through 2020. The network paid more than $4 billion for the rights, facing stiff competition from ESPN. While it hung onto the Games, the high price tag might very well have cost NBC its star exec — and the mastermind of its Olympics coverage — Dick Ebersol in the process.
