Today, our own John Heilemann and the Morning Joe panel discussed how incumbents will deal with the daunting idea cooked up by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell to raise the debt ceiling in three installments through next year and whether or not voting for raising the debt limit over and over would hurt Democrats in purple states. “If [Democrats] can suck the political toxicity out of this issue, those votes might not be that controversial,” Heilemann said.
