New York Post Claims Sofitel Maid Expected Payment for Sex [Updated]

According to the New York Post, the unnamed maid who accused former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault, whose credibility has recently come into serious question, believed she would get money in return for sexual services performed on Strauss-Kahn. “She figured he’s a rich dude, and she would get paid,” a source explained.
The maid reportedly knew what Strauss-Kahn looked like from a photo hanging in a maid closet that identified him as an important guest. According to the Post, which is the only mainstream outlet reporting these details, “there was an expectation of money after [she performed oral sex on him], but he was dismissive, and not gently.” Strauss-Kahn reportedly brushed off the maid’s request for remuneration and turned his back to her to get dressed. The “humiliating exchange” sparked the maid’s anger, the paper said.

The Post also insinuated that the Sofitel maid may have worked as a prostitute in the Brooklyn hotel where she was placed by prosecutors in the Strauss-Kahn case. “I can’t say with 100 percent certainty that it’s not true,” a senior prosecutor said. According to the paper, while staying at a hotel paid for by the district attorney’s office, the maid “played host to a parade of paying male visitors in the weeks after Strauss-Kahn’s arrest.”

Update: The hotel housekeeper has sued the Post for libel, claiming that it published defamatory attacks “in an apparent desperate attempt to bolster its rapidly plunging sales.” The lawsuit states: “All of these statements are false, have subjected the plaintiff to humiliation, scorn and ridicule throughout the world by falsely portraying her as a prostitute or as a woman who trades her body for money and they constitute defamation and libel per se.”
