New York City’s rival tabloids predictably took on the only local news of the weekend with Sunday covers dedicated entirely to Hurricane Irene. While the Daily News went with a straightforward “Blown Away” headline, the Post went a touch lewder, as they’re known to do, with “Irene Blows!” But in addition to their matching verb choice, both picked the same image of a yelping, wet woman in North Carolina. Also identical: the “killer ‘cane” sub-headline. Overall, it’s a repetitive showing from the often inspired papers, this time looking more lackluster than the storm itself.
