If there’s anything that Rick Perry doesn’t need as he prepares to embark on a campaign for the White House, it’s more similarities to George W. Bush, his fellow cowboyish Texas governor. But here’s another one: Like Bush (and, it merits pointing out, many other presidential nominees through the years, including Al Gore and John Kerry), Perry was a pretty mediocre student in college. The Huffington Post was lucky enough to get its hands on a copy of Perry’s transcript from Texas A&M University, and it’s hardly flattering.
Throughout his entire college tenure, he received just two A’s, and most of his grades were C’s and B’s. Some highlights: He received C in U.S. History, a D in principles of economics, a D in Shakespeare, an F in organic chemistry and a C in, um, animal breeding. “This was not the brightest guy around,” a former classmate says. “We always kind of laughed. He was always kind of a joke.”
The best part of the transcript, though, is that Perry only managed to get a C in gym. Gym. What did he do, eat the dodgeball?
