Today is the big showdown in the race to replace Weiner as the congressman representing N.Y.-9. Democrat David Weprin is having trouble getting Jewish voters to cast their ballots for him, but at least one fellow Chosen Person was happy to choose him publicly. (Of course, Anthony Weiner is happy to do a lot of things publicly.)
When asked by a reporter whether it would be his fault if Republicans gained a seat in the House, Weiner replied “If you made a list of 10 fervent defenders of Democratic ideals, I would be on it.” Fervent, by the way, means “having or displaying a passionate intensity.” We suppose it’s true that we have seen more evidence of Weiner’s “passionate intensity” than the average Democrat.
