In an echo of an incident in the Bronx on July 27, a 94-year-old water main near Central Park West and 106th Street erupted earlier today, absolutely flooding the vicinity. This, you might imagine, caused some problems. An “8-foot wave of water” rushed into the 110th Street B/C stop (no injuries were reported), shutting down B and C service and disrupting A and D service in most of Manhattan. Portions of the road were upturned, as if in an earthquake, and driving through the passable areas was more like fording a river on the Oregon Trail. Of course, citizen camera-wielders were on the scene to document it all:
