David Weprin is blaming his disappointing showing in Brooklyn’s ninth district this week on Obama, calling the special election “a referendum of the President” and himself “an unfortunate consequence.” He added, “If this election happened when the president’s poll results were better, I could have turned this around.” But Sheepshead Bay Democratic District Leader Michael Gellar has another theory on the big loss:
“Politicians usually don’t have facial hair, because it looks like your hiding something,” Gellar explained. “Mustaches and beards stop people from seeing the real you.”
