Over the weekend, scientists and yeti hunters in Siberia found “several hairs that might belong to the yeti” as well as “footprints, a presumed bed and various other markers.” The unbiased group is “95 percent” certain that this represents evidence of the yeti and not, oh, any other animal. Meanwhile, paleontologist Mark McMenamin of Mount Holyoke College has concluded that the kraken, the enormous squidlike beast of legend that Liam Neeson wants to release, once existed. His, uh, proof? He says a pile of ichthyosaur fossils in what is now the Nevada desert were collected by a kraken and arranged outside of its den, just as octopi are known to do.
