Whoa, whoa, whoa, 2005 YU55. According to NASA, asteroid 2005 YU55 passed within 202,000 miles of Earth — roughly four-fifths the distance of the moon, at 6:28 p.m. tonight. No asteroid has come this close to Earth since 1976, and the next close encounter of this kind won’t occur until 2028, CNN reports.
The large rock was not a risk to collide with Earth, though. Sorry, Bruce Willis.
