Same idea, different strategy than Michael Bloomberg for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who presides over the nation’s largest remaining Occupy camp. On Friday, Villaraigosa announced that Occupy L.A. would have until 12:01 a.m. on Monday to evacuate the lawn of City Hall, although police might give them some wiggle room on that deadline. Occupy L.A. has vowed to stay. Relations between the protesters and the city have been mostly peaceful thus far, with City Hall even offering the protesters 10,000 square feet of office space and empty lots for a garden if they would pack up their tents, according to the Associated Press. That beats U.C. Davis’s offer of pepper spray.
