Occupy Wall Street protesters plan to mark their two-month anniversary by celebrating all over the New York Stock Exchange’s turf. The anniversary on Thursday is to start with an early-morning “street carnival” outside the Stock Exchange, according to the Daily News. Reuters is reporting that protesters then plan to occupy the subway system and reconvene for a march across the Brooklyn Bridge. “I think it is very difficult to do a day of action and not expect some sort of reaction from the (authorities),” Occupy spokesman Ed Needham said.
The carnival with no rides does not seem to appeal to Mayor Bloomberg, of course, who’s facing pressure to stifle the protesters. “The New York Stock Exchange will open on time,” Bloomberg said. “People will be able to get to work. You can rest assured.”
