Lana Peters (née Svetlana Stalina) passed away this month at the age of 85 after an eventful life that took her from the Soviet Union to Switzerland, India, England, and ultimately, the Midwest. “You can’t regret your fate,” she said, “although I do regret my mother didn’t marry a carpenter.” While the dictator was known to call her “little sparrow” and cuddle, he also acted out a fascist fatherly fantasy by literally sending her first love to Siberia for ten years.
