A nurse and a guard suffered superficial wounds Wednesday night in a waiting area at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center’s emergency room when a gunman entered with a concealed weapon and opened fire. Errol Schneer, the hospital’s spokesperson, said the gunman was after a patient in the waiting room who was involved in a dispute earlier in the day. The nurse was hit in the shoulder and the security guard in the leg by ricocheting bullets. Both were unintended victims and are expected to be released.
