Although Bank of America dropped plans of a $5-a-month debit card charge after a burst of customer and political outrage, they’ve been working diligently to figure out a quiet way to get their money up. The Journal reports today that the bank is almost there, testing a range of monthly charges on checking accounts that don’t meet a minimum balance. Shoeboxes under the bed may yet have a comeback.
