Last week, a retweet-happy Spike Lee accidentally prompted thousands to threaten the household of an elderly couple, after disseminating a false address for Trayvon Martin’s shooter, George Zimmerman. Today, the director apologized, tweeting, “I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s [sic] In Peace.” They still might sue him though.
Update: A lawsuit will not be necessary. Lee has settled with the couple for an undisclosed sum and/or Knicks memorabilia.
