Mitt Romney continued to shore up his fund-raising lead among Wall Street types on Thursday night with an event at the Upper East Side home of hedge-fund billionaire John Paulson. The crowd — which included Gristedes magnate John Catsimatidis, who told the Daily Beast attendees were ”fighting for the soul of America” — was described by a neighbor in unsurprising terms: “Older white people, mostly men.” (To be sort of fair, that description applies to all kinds of political fund-raisers.) After about two hours of hobnobbing and swilling, we presume, top-shelf Scotch, Romney emerged from the townhouse looking “tall and neat” before stepping into a waiting SUV.
