Planetary Resources is a new venture backed by Larry Page, Eric Schmidt, and Ram Shriram (of Google), Charles Simonyi (of Microsoft), Ross Perot Jr. (you can figure it out yourself), and James Cameron (of the sea.) According to The Wall Street Journal, the company’s goal is to “help ensure humanity’s prosperity” by combining the natural resources and space exploration industries. Details are sketchy — apparently there’s going to be a press conference on Tuesday at the Museum of Flight in Seattle — but we do know that their plan will involve a ton of money and at least some robots.
