Grand larcenies are up almost 50 percent on the Upper East Side so far this year, and more than 10 percent citywide, which the New York Post says is due, in part, to “high-tech hoods … plucking bank-account and credit-card statements” from the trash of Manhattan’s one percent. In this scare, only the paper-shredder market wins.
