The White House has cleared itself of any wrongdoing in the Secret Service scandal, Jay Carney announced today. Addressing rumors that members of the administration’s advance team (different from Secret Service members doing advance work for the president) were under investigation for hiring prostitutes in Colombia, the press secretary told reporters there was “no indication of any misconduct” by White House staff. However, he refused to explain how the team assigned to look into the matter had reached that conclusion: “I don’t have, and I’m not going to give you, a blow-by-blow of what is involved in the review.” Probably better that way?
