With the approval of Tyler Clementi’s family, prosecutors have requested “a period of imprisonment,” but not the full ten years possible for Dharun Ravi, the 20-year-old former Rutgers student found guilty of bias intimidation and invasion of privacy following the suicide of his roommate. Ravi, whose defense is asking for probation, could also be deported to India after rejecting a pre-trial deal that would have kept him out of prison. “I’m never going to regret not taking the plea,” he said after the verdict.
