Two Pulitzers later, the nonprofit investigative outlet ProPublica will lose its founding editor-in-chief and CEO Paul Steiger, who will fade into the role of executive chairman. The 69-year-old plans to continue working on fund-raising and “strategic decisions,” but will presumably take a pay cut from that much-ballyhooed compensation package worth almost $600,000 a year.
