As the ostensibly Romney-supporting Republican senator explained it to PBS, casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is making lots of money in the Chinese gambling haven of Macau, and then donating lots of money to a pro-Romney super-PAC, and this is tantamount to injecting “foreign money” into the presidential campaign. So people who do business overseas shouldn’t be allowed to make political donations? It doesn’t make any sense, but it’s still not a good look for Romney to have a high-profile surrogate claim that he’s buying the White House with Chinese money — the most devious type of money in the world.
