Like a lot of people, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi kind of can’t contain herself when it comes to the idea of Hillary Clinton running for president in 2016. Back in April, she said she’d “love” to see the current secretary of state as the Democrats’ next nominee. Today, in an interview with the Chronicle, she took it a step further:
>“Why wouldn’t she run? She’s a magnificent secretary of state,” Pelosi said when asked about Clinton’s prospects in 2016. “She’s our shot” that year, Pelosi said.
In other Politicians for Hillary 2016 news: Buzzfeed has taken a look at Ed Rendell’s new book, which he decided to call A Nation of Wusses, and the former Pennsylvania governor (a so-called “Clinton confidant” who supported her 2008 campaign) also thinks she should — and will — try again, eventually:
She is bone-tired — the job of secretary of state is far more grueling than that of the president, with the nonstop traveling, the constant jet lag, and the odd-hours phone calls to accommodate foreign officials’ schedules. Still I believe that when she gets some rest and has a chance to reflect on what she wants, the challenges facing the country will be too great for her to resist and she will change her mind.
