Hammer-Wielding Man in Suit Attacks Spanish Tourist at City Hall Park

The 31-year-old tourist from Barcelona was sitting on a bench in City Hall Park in Manhattan on Monday afternoon when a man approached him without provocation and smashed him in the head with the claw part of a hammer, reports the Daily News. The alleged perpetrator is 43-year-old John Yoos of Crown Heights, who was wearing a suit at the time of the assault (which is notable because men in suits usually run around with briefcases, not hammers). The tourist is in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital Center, where he is being treated for a fractured skull and defensive wounds. Yoos is under arrest and faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault.
