“What one word best describes your impression of Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney?” asked pollsters that conducted a recent Washington Post-Pew Research Center survey published Wednesday. Think about your response for a few seconds. Great. The top responses were “honest” and “business” for Romney, while Ryan evoked the words “conservative” and “intelligent.” Twenty-seven people (combining 14 for Romney and 13 for Ryan) settled on the very nondescript “okay.” That answer may reveal more about those respondents (among the 1,010 adults sampled) than the Republican nominees, but it’s hard to say because the data doesn’t reveal whether the “okay” responses came from independents, apathetic people, or stoners.
