Political economist and Berkeley professor Robert Reich announced on Twitter this weekend that he would be visiting New York to see his 4-year-old granddaughter and appear on ABC’s The Week with Ann Coulter, which spurred Microsoft to rip on Coulter and compare her wits to that of a kindergartener. According to Politico, a since-deleted message on Twitter in response to Reich’s account read: “@RBReich your granddaughter’s level of discourse and policy > those of Ann Coulter.” Only the person who dispatched the note thought (s)he was being clever on a personal account, not speaking publicly for the corporation. Microsoft said the “tweet obviously is not an official statement by the company,” but did not offer comment on the substance of Robert Reich’s granddaughter’s policy proposals.
