On Monday, police arrested Gene Carlo Pena, who they say stocked Manhattan ATMs with ridiculously bad, one-sided counterfeit bills to hide the theft of $110,000. He was getting off a flight from the Dominican Republic when they nabbed him, which means he left the country after allegedly pulling off the crime but then came back. Perhaps he planned to fill in the other sides of those fake bills.
