Shortly after Orlando Orea, who’s suspected of killing New York Red Bulls youth soccer coach Michael Jones in a brutal slashing in the West Village, hopped a plane before police could arrest him, three NYPD detectives were sent to retrieve him from Mexico. Now they’re heading back without Orea in tow, but Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the search isn’t over. “They received excellent cooperation from the Mexican authorities and they worked with Interpol in Mexico City as well,” Kelly said. “They have lots of points of contact now that they will keep in contact with.” The New York Red Bulls announced that there will be a tribute to Jones before Saturday’s game, and players will wear black armbands and Jones’s number on their shorts.
