Hurricane Sandy Churned Up Some Old Skeletons

Workers clear a downed tree blocking East 96th street in Central Park the morning after Hurricane Sandy on October 30, 2012 in New York City. The storm has claimed at least 16 lives in the United States, and has caused massive flooding across much of the Atlantic seaboard. US President Barack Obama has declared the situation a 'major disaster' for large areas of the US East Coast including New York City.

The inclement weather this Halloween week unearthed two skeletons in Connecticut thought to be from the late 1700s, “along with a hand-wrought coffin nail that dated back to the 18th century,” in a park that once functioned as a cemetery and is definitely haunted. A Yale anthropologist warned, “There may be more,” so cue the howling wind. As if the storm wasn’t scary enough, mother nature seems to have a spooky sense of timing.
