Well, Scott Stringer decided to run for comptroller instead, leaving the city with an almost entirely Gentile ballot for the first time in half a century. (Tom Allon, who is seeking the Republican nomination this year, is Jewish but he is not considered a viable option.) So, in the absence of Jewish candidates, the Times brought in some Borscht Belty political consultants to kvetch about Democratic hopefuls Bill de Blasio, John Liu, Christine Quinn, and William Thompson Jr., along with Republican Adolfo Carrion Jr. According to them, the upcoming election will be “like the Upper West Side without Zabar’s” and “a rye bread without seeds.” Look at what you did, Anthony Weiner
