Dick Armey has resigned with a vengeance as chairman of the Tea Party organizing group FreedomWorks, demanding that the nonprofit immediately remove his name, signature, and image from all its web properties and promotional materials, and pay him up through the end of the month. He wouldn’t give a specific reason for his departure to Mother Jones, which broke the story, except to say that “the top management team of FreedomWorks was taking a direction I thought was unproductive, and I thought it was time to move on with my life.” As to the nature of his disagreement with FreedomWorks: “They were matters of principle. It’s how you do business as opposed to what you do. But I don’t want to be the guy to create problems.” So instead he’s packing up his tea bags (and his freshman congressman orientation booklet “Hitting the Ground Running”) and going home.
