Hoboken is a good restaurant and bar town, but its establishments have long suffered from (or been blessed by, depending on your perspective) some pretty severe crowding in the evenings, thanks to everyone streaming home from work in Manhattan. However, the New York Times points out that with its PATH terminal still closed after Sandy’s flood, Hoboken’s bars and restaurants are sitting empty, priceless Manhattan skyline views and all. This is a problem for Hoboken businesses, but it makes the city sound like a pleasant place to visit if you want to avoid crowds. “The price of a drink here is half the price of a drink in Manhattan. So you get a lot of young professionals who come over on the PATH and hit the bars,” one restaurant owner told the Times. Not these days, though. Once you solve the problem of getting there, a night out in Hoboken sounds like a pretty fun way to help some businesses hang on after the storm.
