Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared to go out of his way to insult the current crop of mayoral candidates Thursday, as he welcomed incoming NYPD chief Philip Banks III, saying, “I wish I had the same confidence in what I read about in the papers from the candidates for mayor.” It’s the most explicit he’s been yet about his disappointment in the group, after letting it be known his vote is still up for grabs. If only Hillary Clinton would have said yes, you can almost hear him thinking.
