The first physical components of the much-anticipated bike-share program Citibike have finally started appearing in Brooklyn, though they don’t have bikes yet. So far, the soon-to-be-citywide program exists as some ten stations clustered around Bed Stuy. “We’ll be moving through the Brooklyn area and then into Manhattan over the next few weeks,” Jon Orcutt, the NYC DOT’s policy director, told Transportation Nation. The first wave of 5,500 bikes is supposed to start rolling by May, between 300 stations, with both of those numbers set to double. But you’ve got to start somewhere.
