Fox News Reporter Not Going to Jail, for Now

CENTENNIAL, CO - APRIL 01: Foxnews.com reporter Jana Winter returns to the court house after a midday recess to face Arapahoe County District Judge William Sylvester regarding evidence in the case of Aurora theater shooting suspect James Holmes at the Arapahoe County Justice Center on April 1, 2013 in Centennial, Colorado. Winter is facing contempt charges for not revelaing her sources that broke a gag order in the case. It was announced that District Attorney George Brauchler will seek the death penalty for suspect James Holmes who is charged with 166 counts of murder, attempted murder and other crimes in the Aurora theater shooting on July 20, 2012. A Colorado judge has decided that Fox News reporter Jana Winter won’t have to testify just yet about the source who told her of Aurora shooter James Holmes’s violent notebook. If the journal, which Winter exclusively reported was sent to Holmes’s psychiatrist, is ultimately admitted as evidence in the case, Winter could potentially face jail time for refusing to betray the rules of her chosen profession, but for the time being she has won a reprieve.
