After finishing 2012 with the lowest murder rate in almost half a century, we’re on pace to best that number again: New York City killings are down 30 percent in the first quarter of the year, to just 66 from 94 last year, and shootings have fallen 24 percent in the same period, from 278 to 212. Keep it up, everyone, except the murdering and shooting parts.
