Despite some very high-profile cyber-attacks in recent months that were linked pretty clearly to Chinese military hackers, the U.S. government didn’t formally accuse China’s military of the online break-ins until Monday, when the Pentagon gave its annual report to Congress. While China’s goal is to steal industrial technology, the report claims, the data could be used to build “a picture of U.S. network defense networks, logistics, and related military capabilities that could be exploited during a crisis,” such as a Twitter hacking.
