In 1993, the New York Times Company bought the Boston Globe for $1.1 billion. In the early aughts, the Globe was still valued at around $1 billion, when About.com was included. And in 2011, someone offered $300 million for the paper, although with less cash up front. Today, with the Times taking bids once again, they’ll likely settle for about $100 million, Bloomberg reports, or a tenth of what it paid.
