In what has become an alarming trend in recent months, the world’s oldest person, Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, died today at the age of 116, according to a Kyodo News story we can’t read. Kimura had been crowned the world’s oldest person in December, following the death of the previous “world’s oldest person,” who herself only held the title for two weeks. We could go on, but you get the point. Something fishy is happening here.
Anyway, the new “world’s oldest person” is 115-year-old Misao Okawa, also of Japan. We can only hope she manages to avoid the same freakish bad luck as her predecessors.
