The Yankees — whose lineup has included such castoffs as Luis Cruz and Travis Ishikawa of late — looked a little bit more like the Yankees for a while today, when Derek Jeter made his season debut in an 8–4 win over Kansas City. Jeter served as the DH and went 1–4 with an infield single, a run scored, and an RBI. But Jeter was pinch-hit for in the eighth: His right quad tightened up, possibly during his third at-bat of the day, and he’s going for an MRI. Joe Girardi hopes it’s not serious, and Jeter thinks he’ll play tomorrow, because of course he does. Girardi isn’t so sure, though. Says the Yankees manager: “We’ll see.” Your 2013 Yankees, everyone.
