Emma Roberts Tries to Cut the Cronut Line, Fails [Updated]

It’s been three months since the cronut drifted down from heaven on a winged cloud and landed inside the Dominique Ansel Bakery, and yet the wait to buy one still stretches two or three hours long. This is apparently true even if you are a 22-year-old actress who shares DNA with Julia Roberts.

Following an interview on Kelly and Michael yesterday morning, actress Emma Roberts set out to finally try one these hybrid pastries for herself. But after standing in line on the streets of Soho like some kind of Normal, Roberts decided to take matters into her own hands. “They’ll definitely let me cut the line,” Roberts said to herself, probably, as she and her publicist marched toward the bakery’s entrance. “I was in Hotel for Dogs.” Alas, the bakery’s doorman — yes, the bakery’s doorman — had apparently not seen Hotel for Dogs, and Roberts was turned away.

At least that was the Daily Mail’s version of events. Later in the day, Roberts Rashomon’d the narrative during an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. As Roberts tells it, she walked straight to the door because she didn’t even realize there was a line. Embarrassed by her faux pas, she then dutifully stood on line until she was told that the bakery had run out of cronuts. However, Fallon pulled some strings and “surprised” Roberts on air with her very own cronut, proving once again that when you are famous and beautiful, everything always turns out okay.
